About the Journal

We acknowledge and respect First Nations people across Oceania as the custodians of the land and waters in which we live, and their deep spiritual connections and care for Island, Whenua and Country. We are deeply committed to fostering relationships among First Nations people and aim to provide a means for self-determined ways of sharing their perspectives, should they wish to do so in Landscape Review.

Call for Papers: Heat!

18-12-2024

Dear colleagues

Heat! As we head into another long hot summer in Oceania, it is timely to invite authors to contribute to what we know about the impacts of increasing temperatures across our region. Although climate change is associated with flooding, storms, sea level rise etc., we invite you to share your thoughts about projects and studies that suggest ways of mitigating, adapting to and/or avoiding heat specifically, in our farming landscapes, built environments, rivers, lakes and oceans. We are particularly keen to receive submissions that show how academic research and professional practice are/or might work in partnership to assist clients, regulators, planners and designers to create or maintain cooler places for all of us.

Landscape Review is keen to publish another issue in November 2025 that interrogates the relationship between landscapes and heat. Authors are encouraged to reflect on topics such as but not limited to:

  • heat impacts on inhabitants of our cities;
  • challenges for food production and producers in the heat;
  • considerations of aquatic and marine creatures in warming waters;
  • examples of user-friendly materials for hot conditions;
  • ways of integrating heat into landscape performance studies;
  • educating groups on exposure to heat; and of course
  • green infrastructure and designing for heat

Submissions

Deadline: 01 June 2025
